Brass Resonance Modeling™ is Yamaha's original technology that effectively cancels the characteristic "closed" sound of a muted instrument, reproducing the open and natural sound of an unmuted instrument

Pickup Mute considerably reduces the volume of the instrument. It features a built-in microphone to pick up sound and transfer it to the Personal Studio Beltpack, while keeping it incredibly natural

For natural and authentic sound, Brass Resonance Modeling technology uses three simultaneous processes that address different listening experiences

First, the sound captured by the built-in mini-microphone is digitally processed to eliminate the "closed" sound that is commonly produced when a mute is used. The reproduced sound then returns to the ears of the singer, through the headphones, as a natural sound, as if the mute were not used

As part of this technology, Yamaha has included sound modes that cater to different listening experiences. These include "Player" mode and "Audience" mode. In "Player" mode, Silent Brass adjusts the left-right balance of the sound to match the position of the player, allowing for a highly immersive experience that simulates the feeling of playing the instrument in front of you. Audience mode, on the other hand, recreates the instrument's sound from a listener's perspective, making it a great choice for recording sessions or online lessons

In addition to these modes, the Silent Brass system also offers a built-in reverb control that allows you to recreate the atmosphere of playing in different environments. The reverberation effect can simulate the acoustic characteristics of both small rehearsal rooms with minimal reverberation and large concert halls with rich reverberation. This flexibility allows you to tailor the sound to fit any space, making your singing feel more authentic and immersive

Personal Studio STJ is also equipped with a micro USB port that allows a connection to computers and smart devices. Using the supplied USB cable to connect Personal Studio to your desired device greatly simplifies the process, eliminating the need for additional audio interfaces or complex wiring setups (an adapter may be required for smartphone connections)

It can also be seamlessly connected to Yamaha's free Rec'n'Share app on smart devices, allowing you to sing along with audio tracks stored on your device. Moreover, it allows you to record your performance and share it online. The app also includes useful features such as: adjustable playback tempo, AB repeat function for practicing certain sections and click track analysis for rhythm assistance. All these features make studying more efficient, productive and enjoyable
